Tootsie The Rapper: Being Tootsie The Rapper means showing up as a confident force of love, light, and purpose. I’m a ball of energy — fun and fearless — and everything I do is intentional. Whether I’m writing, performing, or just moving through life, I lead with heart, walk in purpose, and own every space I step into.
If someone’s never heard your music but needed something real to hold onto, which track should they start with?
Tootsie The Rapper: I’d tell them to go back to the beginning — to one of my first songs, “Learn What to Do” from my In My Zone album. That track holds my entire soul. It was the foundation of everything I’ve built since.
I’ve been consistent for so many years, and that song is where it all started. You can listen to it today and hear the growth, feel the evolution — but still connect to the message. Learn What to Do has that old-school vibe, but it carries a timeless truth about life.
It’s about figuring things out, learning how to move, and understanding that we’re all just trying to get somewhere. There’s no need to hate on one another — there’s room for all of us to grow. That track is raw, it’s real, and it’s a reflection of where I started and where I’m headed.
We are thrilled to learn about your latest release, the EP Twin Flames. What can you tell us about it?
Tootsie The Rapper: Yes! I recently collaborated on this project with Jon Connor, and I truly feel it showcases our combined talents in a powerful way. Every song on Twin Flames was created with raw energy and pure vibes — it’s authentic from start to finish.
For me, this project reflects my growth as an artist. It gave me space to explore different styles and sounds because I never want to limit my creativity. I’m all about versatility, and Twin Flames allowed me to express that fully. I’m super grateful to Jon, too — he was completely open to my creative process, and because of that, we were able to create something special. I honestly believe we made a masterpiece.
Your flow is fearless but always intentional. What’s something you want your audience to feel in their bones when they hear a Tootsie track?
Tootsie The Rapper: I want my audience to feel like they can relate. My music is more than just sound — it’s energy, emotion, and truth. I want listeners to catch a vibe, feel good, but also take something meaningful with them.
I always drop little gems in my lyrics — messages about staying grounded, pushing through, and navigating life. I want my audience to feel seen, empowered, and reminded they’re not alone on this journey we call life. Every word I write has purpose, and I hope they feel that in their bones.
Music careers can be a rollercoaster ride: emotionally, mentally, spiritually. On the days when the climb feels heavy, what keeps you grounded, focused, and creating with love?
Tootsie The Rapper: Prayer and meditation keep me grounded. I also find peace in being around my family, my loved ones, and especially my children — they’re a huge source of strength for me.
Of course, I have my off days — we all do. But I try to stay focused by highlighting and appreciating the good in my life. I believe your intentions should always be rooted in love and purpose.
When I create, I’m at my most vulnerable. So whatever’s inside of me naturally comes out through the music. My creativity is love — because I always have something meaningful to say.
What are some of your go-to items you always take into the studio with you?
Tootsie The Rapper: Whenever I hit the studio, I always bring my essentials: a Red Bull Zero Sugar (lol), a little bottle of Hennessy, my USB drive, and most importantly — good vibes. The energy has to be right for the creativity to flow.
Can we expect any special appearances or shows soon? If so, when and where?
Tootsie The Rapper: Over the past three months, I’ve been traveling and making appearances from Detroit to Philly to L.A. I was just at BET Awards weekend and also attended The Family Business New Orleans cast party hosted by Brandon T. Jackson. Just days later, I was in Philly performing with recording artist Fitchmeans — we collaborated on a track called “Broke Boys”, which will be releasing soon.
Right now, I’m focused on balance. This month is all about wrapping up projects, locking in studio time, and setting solid agendas. So while I’m keeping it lowkey at the moment, you can definitely expect me to pop up wherever I’m needed. I move with purpose — so trust, I’ll be where it matters.
Every artist has a “why” behind the mic. Beyond the shows, the streams, the success — what’s the real message you’re trying to plant in the hearts of everyone listening?
Tootsie The Rapper: My “why” has always been about connection, truth, and impact. Beyond the music, I want people to know they’re not alone. Life gets heavy sometimes, but through my lyrics, I hope to offer light, motivation, and something real to hold onto.
I want to plant the message that it’s okay to be vulnerable, it’s okay to grow, and it’s okay to not have it all figured out. As long as you move with love, stay grounded in who you are, and keep pushing forward, you’re already winning. My purpose is bigger than me — and if my words can help someone feel seen or inspired, then I’m doing exactly what I was called to do.
