There are voices that echo beyond the stage lights, beyond the applause. There are voices that truly reach the depths of the soul, uplift humanity, and remind us of what’s possible when talent meets purpose. Cristina Fontanelli's voice is one of them. The multi-award-winning opera singer, actress, philanthropist, and most recently, political advocate, is one of the most recognized and respected names in the performing arts. Her story and career is one of grace, humanitarianism, and commitment not only to her craft but also to the world.
A graduate of the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Cristina trained at the very same institution that molded icons such as Robert Redford, Anne Hathaway, Danny DeVito, and Edward G. Robinson. Speaking of Dramatic Arts, she is on the list of American Academy of Dramatic Arts people and was named one of the Most Notable Alumni of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Originally pursuing acting, Cristina’s life took an unexpected turn when industry pressures told her she needed to “lose 15 pounds.” Instead of conforming, she chose empowerment by deciding to pursue opera, where she could, in her words, “sing, act (opera is very dramatic), and eat the lasagna!” That career decision transformed her life. Singing came naturally, it was as she says, “like breathing.” Her rich voice would travel the world, captivating audiences and creating a legacy built on authenticity and excellence.
Cristina’s illustrious career spans the entire globe. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Philadelphia Academy of Music, and Symphony Hall in Boston, among many others. Her international engagements include performances with the Hong Kong and Cairo Operas and title roles with the Palm Beach Opera. On television, Cristina has become a familiar face and voice, appearing on PBS-TV as host for special featuring Andrea Bocelli, Il Volo, and Michael Bublé. Her charisma and artistry have also graced CBS, Bloomberg Radio, WOR Radio with Joe Piscopo, and Sirius Satellite Radio. Her cinematic presence is equally celebrated, winning Best Actress at both the Cutting Room International Film Festival and the Venus International Film Festival (Las Vegas) for her role in SANTINO, a Russo Brothers/NIAF Production grantee.

Notable media outlet reviews include:
“Brilliant acting” — the Palm Beach Post
“Cristina Fontanelli at Feinsteins at the Regency Hotel is like seeing a cross between Maria Callas and Ethel Merman. She has no equal.” — Forbes Magazine
“Vocal Genius” — The New York Sun

Also, Cristina has shared stages with legends such as Tony Bennett, co-hosted CBS-TV promos with Kevin James, and was featured in Simon and Schuster’s “The Life and Time of Mickey Rooney” after serenading the Hollywood legend at his 90th birthday celebration. Beyond the accolades, Cristina’s heart beats for service. Her philanthropic journey began from a deep desire to help children and preserve great music for future generations. Through The Cristina Fontanelli Foundation and her beloved production “Christmas in Italy®” — now celebrating its 22nd year in NYC — she has provided hundreds of children with opportunities to perform on world-class stages including Carnegie Hall.

A portion of proceeds from her concerts supports organizations like St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Tunnels to Towers Foundation, food pantries, orphanages, and other children’s causes. In 2021, she even directed her giving toward the restoration of the historic Shrine Church of the Most Precious Blood in Little Italy, NYC — honoring her heritage while preserving history. Cristina’s dedication and commitment to humanity recently took another form, one of political courage. On November 4, 2025, she ran as an Independent write-in candidate for New York City Council District 3, which includes Times Square, the Broadway Theater District, and Greenwich Village. Her decision was born not from ambition, but from frustration and love. As well as a desire to help her community and uplift the moral and cultural fabric of the city she calls home.
“I believe we can do much better than what’s currently manifesting,” Cristina says. Her words carry both conviction and compassion, the duality of a true leader.
Cristina Fontanelli’s career reflects an artist who has transcended labels. She is a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient from the Order Sons of Italy in America, joining the ranks of the late Luciano Pavarotti. She has performed at the White House under President Clinton and opened the Stars and Stripes Inaugural Ball for President George W. Bush. She sings in nine languages, effortlessly bridging cultures through the universal language of music.
Today, Cristina continues to inspire with her artistry, advocacy, and authenticity. Her story is a testament to self-belief and to following one’s calling despite the world’s expectations. For aspiring performers and dreamers everywhere, Cristina Fontanelli stands as proof that the stage is not just a platform — it’s a purpose. And when that purpose is expressed with love and service, the performance never truly ends.
“I’ve always wanted to help humanity,” Cristina says. “Music is my way of giving back — of healing, inspiring, and reminding the world that beauty still exists.”
Indeed, it does and her voice is the echo.
