Emma Elysee and Tess Homann Launch Made By Icons, Bringing Fashion Photography to the Art Market

By Jessica Ross

Made By Icons, the new fashion media company founded by fashion photographer Emma Elysee and model Tess Homann, officially launched this month at Sydney's historic Rocks precinct, drawing fashion ind!stry leaders, photographers, creatives and local personalities. The company is entering the growing intersection of fashion, art and collecting with the ambition of transforming iconic fashion photography into authenticated, limited-edition fine art prints for collectors and institutions.

Founded by fashion photographer Emma Elysee and model Tess Homann, the

venture has secured exclusive, multi-party licensing agreements for both archival and contemporary fashion imagery. Its inaugural collection includes landmark magazine covers from Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, alongside celebrated advertising campaigns created for luxury houses including Saint Laurent and Chanel.

The founders believe that some of fashion's most influential imagery has long been undervalued outside its original commercial context. While fashion photography has traditionally existed as editorial or advertising material with a relatively short lifespan, Made By Icons aims to reposition these works as collectible fine art, creating a market that appeals to collectors, interior designers, galleries and high-net-worth buyers.

"Fashion's images are cultural landmarks with global significance," co-founder Emma Elysee  said in a joint statement. "Made By Icons exists to preserve that legacy while making these works accessible to people who appreciate both their artistic and cultural value."

The company's inaugural roster features internationally recognized photographers whose work has shaped fashion and popular culture over the past several decades. Among them are Alexi Lubomirski, known for his portraits of the British royal family and celebrities including Beyoncé and Angelina Jolie; Rankin, whose portraits of David Bowie, Kate Moss and Queen Elizabeth II became defining images of their era; Greg Kadel, whose cinematic work has appeared in Vogue Italia and campaigns for Louis Vuitton and Valentino; David Dunan, known for documenting the worlds of John Galliano's Dior and Yves Saint Laurent; Daniella Midenge, whose editorial work has helped define contemporary Los Angeles fashion imagery;

“Fashion has a universal appeal and there is something extra special when are rare talents collaborate as shown in these photos”, says co founder Tess Homman

Each photograph will be released as a strictly authenticated, limited-edition print, introducing scarcity to images that were originally produced for mass publication. The company argues that this curatorial approach creates the conditions for a formal secondary market in fashion photography, placing these works alongside more established categories of contemporary fine art.

Whether collectors embrace fashion photography as an institutional-grade asset remains to be seen. As luxury consumers increasingly seek investments that combine cultural significance with rarity, Made By Icons is positioning itself at the forefront of a market that has only recently begun to emerge.
