Screamfest at 26: Hollywood's Horror Film Festival Returns to the TCL Chinese Theatre

Every October, Hollywood Boulevard gains a new kind of red carpet. Screamfest Horror Film Festival, which describes itself as the largest and longest-running horror festival in the United States, celebrates its 26th edition from Tuesday, October 6, through Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood.


Opening Night


The festival opens on October 6 with The Night Driver, a road-stalker thriller directed by Jeremy Weiss and starring Josh Lucas, David Arquette and Alyssa Milano. Friday the 13th creator Sean S. Cunningham is an executive producer. According to the festival, the 7:30 p.m. screening will be followed by an opening-night party.


A Lineup Built on Premieres


As reported by Dread Central, the first wave of programming includes eight world premieres, six North American premieres, one U.S. premiere and three West Coast premieres. Early titles include:


  • The Caged, directed by Jeffrey Scott Collins, with Edmund Kingsley.

  • Grow, directed by Brian Gottlieb and starring Annet Mahendru.

  • Wounds, directed by Ron Krauss and starring Jack Kilmer and Paris Jackson.

Honoring a Master of Light and Shadow


Screamfest will present its Career Achievement Award to cinematographer Peter Deming, whose credits include David Lynch's Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks, as well as Evil Dead II, Scream 2, 3 and 4, and Drag Me to Hell. His work on the Twin Peaks episode "Part 8" earned him an Emmy nomination in 2018.
