Sudeep Deshpande, Raised in a Family of Artists, Is Now Astounding the World
Artist Sudeep Deshpande, originally from Nasik, Maharashtra State, India, was brought up in a family of Artists.
“We are a family of four. My Father, Dr. Sudhir Deshpande, was a self-taught sculptor and painter.
My mother, Mrs. Chitra Deshpande, is a musician as a profession. She teaches classical Indian music. My younger sister, Sukhada Khandkekar, is an Indian classical dancer and a theater actress and artist,” he explains. “My father brought me a toy with magnets as a birthday gift when I turned five. This was a toy that was similar to Legos or clay, because you could use it to create different shapes or compositions. And I created a composition of two birds bending down to drink water. I named it Thirst. It was a small metal sculpture.”

Sudeep is now an architect, sculptor, and painter. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, which he received in 2003.

With 17 years of experience in the field of art and design, he arrived in Bahrain, a country in the Persian Gulf, 12 years ago.
“One of my design school professors, whom I look up to and who has been one of my inspirations, Ms. Anjali Kumthekar, informed me of upcoming job opportunities for architects. That’s what brought me to this beautiful place,” he says.
