At the crossroads of Brazilian fire and Black American soul stands Angel B—a singer, dancer, choreographer, and fashion-forward force whose artistry is as bold as her journey. Born in the electrifying city of São Paulo, Brazil, Angel B. embodies what it means to be a global creative: fiercely independent, unapologetically driven, and proudly rooted in the rhythms that raised her.

From an early age, Angel B was immersed in movement and melody. “Since a young age, I was dancing, singing, and by the time I was like 10, I started writing songs,” she recalls. “I used to do modeling competitions, and at those shows, I would pretend I was one of the artists—I’d be singing their songs. That’s when I knew.”

That spark ignited a path that would take her from local girl groups in Brazil to a solo debut in 2007, and eventually to Los Angeles in late 2011. “I had to start all over again,” she says of the move. “Back in Brazil, I was choreographing and dancing professionally—touring with artists, doing commercials. When I came here, I had to hustle and rebuild.”

And rebuild she did—on her own terms. Angel B’s career has been a testament to the hustle of the independent artist. Without major label backing, she has financed her music, videos, and wardrobe through teaching, choreographing, and performing. “With money, you can get the best producers, the best team. But when you don’t have that, you just keep doing what you can. You collaborate. You get creative,” Angel B says.

Creativity isn’t something Angel B lacks. Her work spans disciplines, from starring in the dance film “You Got Served: Beat the World,” to choreographing and performing alongside legends like Snoop Dogg, Pharrell, Ne-Yo, and Kendrick Lamar. “I worked with Snoop for four years,” she says proudly. “He gave me the opportunity to travel across the U.S. and Canada. That experience really helped me grow.”

Despite her success, Angel B says she's often underestimated. “My whole life, people doubted me. But I love proving people wrong. I’m my own competition, my biggest critic. I keep pushing myself to be better,” Angel says. Her sound—infused with Afro-Brazilian drums and Black American R&B sensibilities—is an homage to the cultures that shaped her. “People don’t realize how African Brazil is. We had millions of enslaved Africans brought to our shores, and that influence is in our samba, our rhythms, our spirit. When I came to the U.S., I felt connected to Black culture here too—through R&B, hip hop, soul. I try to bring both worlds together with respect.”

Angel B has also made conscious decisions to stay authentic—even if it means sacrificing commercial success. “In Brazil, the pop scene can be very provocative, like dancehall. If I wanted to go mainstream there, I’d have to sing lyrics that didn’t feel true to me,” she says. “I never wanted to be just another face doing what everyone else is doing. I’ve always made music that’s real for me.”

That same philosophy applies to her fashion. Whether on stage or in her videos, Angel B’s looks are daring and deliberate. “I started in modeling and runway shows as a kid. I’ve always loved fashion. But without a big label or stylist, I had to learn how to do it myself. I bought clothes, put looks together, found people who could sew outfits for me. I had to make it work—and I did.”

She speaks both Portuguese and English fluently and is sharpening her Spanish. At 40, she’s unbothered by the industry’s ageism. “People think I’m in my 20s—and I take that as a compliment. But I’m proud of my age. I want to inspire people that it’s never too late to chase your dreams,” Angel B says.

Her new single, “Find My Way,” drops August 4 on all streaming platf

orms, with early access available on Bandcamp for fans who want to support directly. “This song represents a new chapter for me,” she says. “It’s about resilience, about trusting your path even when it’s hard to see.”

From São Paulo to Los Angeles, from rehearsal studios to world stages, Angel B is more than an artist—she’s a movement. A one-woman production house, a boundary-breaker, and a living testimony that hustle, heritage, and heart can carry you further than hype.
