On January 21, 2023, The Creative Coalition hosted the annual Spotlight Initiative Awards Gala Dinner with Entertainment Weekly, a signature event that takes place each year during the festival.

The Spotlight Initiative Awards are a prestigious honor in the independent film arena. For almost two decades, these honors have been bestowed during the Cannes, Toronto, and other major film festivals both domestically and abroad.
2023 Honorees included Phoebe Dynevor (Fair Play), Nikole Hannah-Jones (The 1619 Project), Adam Lambert (Fairyland), Luis A. Miranda Jr. (Going Varsity in Mariachi), Randall Park (Shortcomings) and Lewis Pullman (The Starling Girl). Gala attendees include leading members of the entertainment industry including actors, directors, producers, executives and selected media.
