Success through authenticity

By Joseph Patrick Fair

Excellence in the human condition is no accident. There is a blueprint and roadmap to this cognitive process. Many cognitive processes require self-initiative. Excellence leads to success.

The navigation to this location is propelled by self-discovery. The blueprint is articulated by ownership of one’s authentic-self. In a world awash in social comparison this personality principle requires moderately high levels of self-discipline. Self-discipline is derived from

one’s ability to override impulse response and invest in the long game of life.

If we possess the strength to look inside and ask why we were born, what is our mission in life? Then self-actualization is on the agenda of this current life experience. Maslow’s diagram of needs places at the top self-actualization (see book mark 1) this requires us to take inventory to start the process. That would be your current location on the road map to excellent.

Getting honest about your strengths and weaknesses is drawing the blueprint to make your dream come true. These tools manage your journey to your authentic-self. The most accurate measurement of progress is self-efficiency and overall well being. Your strengths are the bedrock of your process implementation, your weaknesses are the opportunity for growth and learning.

Many important missions in life require a pilot and a navigator. The pilot operates the equipment and the navigator plot’s the progress of the mission. You are the pilot and your life coach or spiritual advisor is your navigator.

Living a life of happiness, success and prosperity is the waypoint of your journey to excellence. Giving back or paying it forward is your final destination. It’s fun to discuss the joy of the flight but the most important thing is the pre-flight checklist. You could be flying a Cessna 172 plane or a Concord supersonic jet. Both require a pre-flight checklist.

For your metaphorical journey to excellence, a good place to start is the Myers-Briggs personality index. (See book mark 3). This index could be seen as your operating manual as a pilot. Some people's life experience makes them suitable to be a private pilot, others should go directly into commercial aviation.

You could be a pilot in training or a seasoned professional both require feedback to improve your overall skill level. Criticism can be painful or empowering if handled properly. The perpetual student graduates top of their class.

To make a conscious decision to start your journey to excellence is the first part of many other decisions and actions to facilitate your destiny. Some people take a flight to visit Florida, others want to tour the whole world. A few want to see Mars. (Elon Musk-see book mark 3)

This type of journey starts with a new awakening. A removal of some past social conditioning and social hierarchical restructuring. Removing some layers of paint and varnish to discover the beauty of your grain. Upgrade your conscious self-perception.

Often the origin of the metamorphosis is post-trauma contemplation. Wanting to live life on a new level or terms. To understand post-traumatic contemplation often we must research someone from the past that lived an unusual and complicated life.

Evel Knievel quotes: “You come to the point in life when you don’t care about what other people think of you, you care what you think of yourself”. “Bones heal, pain is temporary and chicks are impressed by scars”. The life of Evel Knievel is a prime example of someone who connected to their authentic-self early in life and was capable of facing his mortality and impermanence.

Many people procrastinate in their journey because of fear to examine and measure their failure and faults. Introspection (Introspection meaning: the examination or observation of one’s own mental and emotional processes). “Quiet introspection can be extremely valuable”.

Introspection sounds painful till you come around to the idea that the past is gone and dead. All we have control over is the future. Your journey requires forward movement (the plane maintains altitude because of force over gravity) don’t let your past run your future.

Making amends and taking ownership of bad behavior. Once you take ownership of your past you are no longer crippled by the fear of it. Often people give us reasons to revert to past conditioning; we must stay the course of discovery.

After some time in self-actualization you see the impact you're having on your world. The time period could be long or short depending on how hard you're working on self-discovery.

When you see that you have increased the quality of life for others around you the cycle of healing is concentrically self-replicating. If a person possesses good human character they want to multiply the results and impact.

Moving your career choice to being a creator is one way to be a thought leader and an agent of change. Writing a screenplay or becoming a Filmmaker is one way of making a global impact on the world. Hopefully? When they write your obituary it will say, you lived a life of excellence.
