Gilda Garza Brings Her Vision to Urban Landscapes

In early 2026, celebrated Mexican artist Gilda Garza will take a bold new step onto the global stage as her first series of large-scale urban sculptures begins to inhabit public spaces across Mexico City and cities around the world. Known for her fearless creativity, philanthropic spirit, and entrepreneurial drive, Garza has long been an important name within international cultural circles. Now, with her monumental trilogy The Kingdom of Light, she elevates her practice to an entirely new dimension where art interacts dynamically with the rhythms, light, and energy of the city itself.
Designed as a 15-meter triangular constellation of immersive forms, the three sculptures are titled Queen of Love, King of Power, and Queen of Spirit. They bring together warmth, strength, and transcendence through luminous materials and symbolic storytelling. Inspired by a lifelong connection to art nurtured by her mother and grandmother, Garza has steadily evolved from a child painting in her mother’s studio to a painter and sculptor whose work is redefining contemporary Mexican conceptual art. With upcoming installations planned not only for Mexico City but also Los Cabos, Miami, Venice, and Dubai, her radiant kingdom is set to vibrate far beyond its origins, inviting global audiences into a dialogue shaped by leadership and inner light.
Gilda, how was the idea of creating The Kingdom of Light born?
The idea was born from my desire to transform my iconic Kings into a universe where strength, love, and consciousness become a living force. While creating my monumental sculptures in Murano, surrounded by fire and crystal, I felt that light itself wanted to become the soul of a new realm, one that elevates the feminine and masculine energies into symbols of protection and purpose.
This vision evolved into a world where each piece carries its own spiritual presence. The Kingdom of Light is not only an art collection; it is a universe I created for people to remember their own inner royalty, their power to love, and their ability to illuminate the world.
Please describe the conceptual process for balancing love, power, and spirit within one installation.
To create an energetic triangle where love, power, and spriit coexist, I began by giving each sculpture its own emotional frequency The Queen of Love represents the compassionate heart of femininity, the Queen of Spirit embodies intuition and transformation, and the King of Power redefines strength as protection without dominance. My process was to let each energy speak independently first, so their identities were clear and strong before uniting them in one installation.
Once their essence was defined, I focused on how their forces interacted visually and spiritually. I positioned them as a triangle to create a continuous flow of energy. Each piece amplifies the other without overpowering it. Together, they create a universe where power inspires rather than controls. The result is a balanced universe where the heart, the strength, and the soul meet in harmony, inviting viewers to step into their own inner kingdom.

What role does light play within your work?
Light is the invisible force that gives the sculptures their soul. During the day, natural light reveals their purity. Every reflection, every shimmer, every layer of crystal becomes a living heartbeat. The pieces breathe with the sun, transforming as the day evolves, showing that power and beauty are never static.
At night, the illuminated reflections turn light into a guardian, completing the energetic triangle as the “fourth protagonist”. It amplifies the emotional frequencies of love, power, and spirit, allowing the installation to transcend its physical form. Through light, the sculptures stop being mere objects. They become an experience, a realm that awakens the viewer’s own inner radiance.
What creative challenges did you face working at this scale for the first time?
Working monumentally required reimagining my artistic language. In sculpture, emotion must inhabit the entire structure, not just the surface. The challenge was translating the intimate energy of my Queens into pieces strong enough for public environments without losing their spiritual essence. This pushed me to blend intuition with engineering and technical precision.
How do your Mexican roots and early art training influence this stage of your career?
Everything I create carries a passion for art passed down from my mother and grandmother. They taught me to see beauty through emotion and symbolism. Their influence is present in the colors, spiritual force, and feminine power in my work. Each Queen is a tribute to them and to the soul of Mexico within me.
How will each location transform the viewer’s experience as the installation travels?
Each city will reveal a different facet of the sculptures. Mexico City will highlight their emotional and cultural roots, Venice will enhance their spiritual elegance, and Dubai will amplify their monumental presence. The works adapt to each environment, allowing audiences to connect through the lens of their own culture and light.
How does it feel to transform a public space into an artistic stage?
Public art becomes a part of people’s daily lives, and I feel responsible for offering beauty and inspiration to everyone who encounters it. I want these sculptures to spark reflection and empowerment, giving viewers a moment to feel seen and elevated.

How do you balance your roles as an artist, an entrepreneur, and a philanthropist?
My background in accounting gave me structure and strategy, while art has always been my emotional core. Today, the artist, businesswoman, and philanthropist work together. My financial skills support large-scale projects, my artistic roots guide their emotional depth, and my philanthropic spirit ensures that my work uplifts others.
What projects would you like to explore after The Kingdom of Light?
I plan to continue exploring monumental art because it creates entire worlds in public spaces. At the same time, I want to return to intimate formats where emotion speaks more quietly. My goal is to keep connecting transforming cities while also creating works that live close to the heart.
