HUMANE, Caitlin Cronenberg's Dystopian Satire starring Jay Baruchel & Emily Hampshire Now in Theaters!

By Tammy Reese

IFC Films and Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, are proud to present HUMANE, a chilling dystopian satire from Caitlin Cronenberg, making her highly anticipated feature directorial debut.

Humane is written and produced by Michael Sparaga. It stars Jay Baruchel, Emily Hampshire, Sebastian Chacon, Alanna Bale, Sirena Gulamgaus, Uni Park, Enrico Colantoni, and Peter Gallagher. It was released on April 26, 2024. The film combines elements of horror thriller and family drama to address the topic of the climate crisis.

HUMANE takes place over a single day, mere months after a global ecological collapse has forced world leaders to take extreme measures to reduce the earth’s population. In a wealthy enclave, a recently retired newsman has invited his grown children to dinner to announce his intentions to enlist in the nation’s new euthanasia program. But when the father’s plan goes horribly awry, tensions flare and chaos erupts among his children.

“A well-engineered, single-location thriller that prioritizes bloody, gut-punchtwists and turns.”

-Alistair Ryder, The Film Stage

“A heady cocktail of humor, estrangement, violence, greed, and duplicity,

Humane is a wicked feast that should be consumed at once.”

-Kat Hughes, The Hollywood News

“An impishly entertaining little thriller. Cronenberg executes with confidence

and wit, delivering a world that’s hauntingly similar to the one we’re in now.”

-Matthew Jackson, Paste
