We obtained an exclusive interview with Timeekah to discuss her career highlights, celebrity products, fashion tips, and more.
Hi, I am thrilled to interview you for Heart of Hollywood Magazine. As founder of Alani Taylor Co please tell us about your first experience as a celebrity fashion designer. What went into pulling off Nelly’s Motown Birthday?
Sleepless nights went into that one lol. I had little time to prepare. My team and I stayed overnight to get everything done for the party. We had a week to make 7 suits. I had to fly to LA to get Jermain Dupri, and Brian Micheal Cox measurements because it was very hard to get everyone in one place for measuring. Everyone was in different places and it was crazy to have to go to each of them individually lol. The day of we had to make adjustments that needed to be done and as we are running around crazy T.I walks in and says “I need a fit done for tonight”. Lol that’s when I pulled my hair out. But we got it done and that’s what mattered.

What was the most fun about working Da Baby’s Family Christmas Event?
Seeing the babies with the dresses on and their reactions was priceless. They all felt like princesses. Of course, knowing that Da Baby was very happy and pleased with the results was a plus.
What were some other highlights from your career this past year?
Becoming an AT&T Black Future Maker, Designing for Vedo for the Soul Train awards, being the designer for T.I music video, Designing for Dababy and Lil Wayne, and so many other things I’m just excited and grateful in all for the opportunities that are placed in front of me. I know 2023 will be even more of a blessing in my life.
What are you currently working on and looking forward to for 2023? Are you able to discuss Columbia Fashion Week?
Working on my new collection for LA Fashion Week and NYFW. Focusing on starting my junior youth sewing program, and expanding my manufacturing company and retail store in Atlanta.
Columbia fashion week was awesome. I had an amazing time. I’m glad to see fashion exist in all corners of the world, not just in the major cities that are known for fashion. Fashion belongs to all.
As a fashion designer, what are some fashion tips you could give us for the new year?
Just be free with expressing yourself through clothes. Fashion has no rules in my book so love your life and do it in the best way possible. And if you still struggle to put pieces together, don’t add stress to it. Just shop or bring your designer and/or style needs to @alanitaylor.

Tammy Reese began her career as a theater actress performing in 60 live stage shows a year with The Media Unit TV and Stage Production Company. She also directed the weekly live TV show Rough Times Live.
