Please tell us about your career as an actress, what are some of the latest projects you’ve been a part of?
I’ve been on an incredible journey — from the moment I first stepped into acting classes at Universal Studios Florida and honed my voice in singing lessons with Matt Kramer of Saigon Kick Band and Patrick Cunningham of A-Z Music Project, I knew I was destined for the stage and screen. Early on, I booked commercials for Marriott and other national brands, and even tackled a guest arc where I played a male prison inmate — an unexpected challenge that showcased my five-octave vocal range.
Those experiences paved the way for series roles and, ultimately, my breakout casting as Jasmine in the romantic drama The Matchmaker, where I had the honor of sharing the screen with soul legend Shirley Murdock. Simultaneously, I plunged into darker territory as Sky in the gritty thriller Noxious Cold Case, digging into layers of suspense and intrigue.
What have been some of the most uplifting and memorable moments of your acting career so far?
Shirley Murdock and her son: On the set of The Matchmaker, I was going through a very dark time — facing mistreatment and self-doubt — but Shirley and her son took me under their wing. They checked in after long days, invited me into their home, and reminded me why I belong in this industry. Their genuine care made me feel seen, loved, and valued.
My manager and my sister at my first premiere: I’ll never forget stepping onto that red carpet for the first time, knees shaking in my heels, and to have my manager Cyndy Joseph, and my sister, Molly, beaming back at me. Their support turned my nerves into pure pride — and showed me that every late-night audition and early-morning call time is worth it.
Messages from kids and teens: Hearing from young people — especially those in foster care — who tell me that my work inspired them to keep going has been profoundly moving. When a teen says, “Your work gave me hope when I felt invisible,” it reminds me that acting isn’t just about entertainment; it’s about connection, empowerment, and giving a voice to those who need it most.
These moments — of mentorship, family, and real human impact — are the heartbeats behind every role I take on.
You’ve spoken out about facing racism, sexual harassment, and ableism on the job. What was the emotional toll of experiencing all of that while still showing up professionally?
Behind my performance on set or a day in the life at work where I was being mistreated, I was haunted by anxiety, replaying each moment of ableism and harassment in my mind, wondering if I’d survive the day.
Still, I summoned every ounce of strength to show up, deliver my lines, and give my character life and get the job done — because I refused to let their cruelty steal my voice. That daily battle between fear and professionalism taught me that resilience isn’t the absence of pain; it’s choosing to stand tall in spite of it — so that future actors never have to endure what I did in silence.
As a woman of color, from your experience, what is the state of the film industry?
I believe we’re on the cusp of a new era: one where representation isn’t a trend, it’s the norm; where children of every background see themselves on screen, not just in the background; and where every filmmaker has an equal chance to tell their truth. That future isn’t coming someday — it’s what we’re building today, one bold, authentic story at a time.”
You’ve unfortunately previously experienced workplace harassment. What message would you share with other women who feel unsafe or unsupported on set or on the job but are afraid to speak out?
Here’s the truth: no one ever won an Oscar for suffering in silence. If you feel unsafe or unsupported, treat your voice like the spotlight — it belongs center stage, not locked in the wings. Document every moment, rally your allies, and speak up demanding your story be heard.
Monsters only win in the dark. Turn on the lights, call “action,” and let them see you standing tall. I see you. I will fight with you. I will believe you. I am here for you. You are NOT alone.
Despite everything you’ve endured, you continue to advocate and serve. What keeps your hope alive?
My daughter’s smile on my hardest days, the quiet ‘you inspire me’ from a foster kid’s hugs, and the electric rush when art sparks real change — those moments are the heartbeat of my hope. They remind me that every battle scar holds the power to light someone else’s way.
Any other film projects we can be on the lookout for?
Right now, my calendar is wide open — and I’m hungry for my next big break. I’d love to audition for Tyler Perry’s next inspiring drama, gearing up to survive a zombie horde on The Walking Dead, and ready to unleash my five-octave voice and fearless spirit in the X-Men universe or any other action-adventure.
Keep an eye out — if you need a survivor who’s beaten cancer, faced real-world monsters, and still finds her voice, that’s me. My agent’s inbox is standing by.
