Mexican Designer Vianney de Aquino Is Flourishing in the U.S.
Mexico City-born Vianney de Aquino is a businesswoman who has always wanted to stand out from the crowd. Her focus had been art all her life, and after completing her studies in her hometown, she chose to focus more specifically on the world of fashion and haute couture.
“After several years, I decided to embark on an adventure, and I started my own company. Thanks to hard work and effort, I had the opportunity to establish a series of boutiques in Mexico City. After a while, my focus was on a great country, like the United States. It was then that I set my sights on the north. Today, after 20 years, I am growing as a designer in the United States. I hope that my brand, and my work in the universe that is fashion, will eventually be known to everyone.

Why did you decide to choose fashion design as a career?
I chose to become a fashion designer because I liked the idea of creating, imagining, and renewing. Something I like about my career is that I can express my ideas about various topics through my designs. When I have the opportunity to make dresses for quinceañeras, I always think about my clients’ joy and innocence. That makes me think about how I can do a better job and put even more effort into their happiness.

There’s so much pressure for designers to come out with their greatest collection season after season. What advice would you give to young designers just starting out and hoping to make it in the industry?
Dream, imagine, and never stop believing.
Something that I have learned over time in this career and in this life is that everything can be possible through effort and dedication.
I believe that being a designer is having the ability to show a human side that we all have, but that not all of us are capable of showing. Always remember that your work can inspire more people to be better every day.
And, like I said at the beginning, never stop creating. Create a bridge between you and the vast universe that art can give you.
