The Filipino short film AGAPITO—a cinematic marvel imagined by the brilliant Arvin Belarmino and Kyla Romero—has officially secured a prestigious slot in the 78th Cannes Film Festival, under the highly sought-after Official Selection – Short Film In Competition category!
A deeply emotional tribute to Arvin’s late brother, Agapito Jay Ar Belarmino, the film centers on the quiet, unwavering life of a bowler. With breathtaking visuals and a narrative that grips the soul, AGAPITO is more than just a film—it’s an experience that leaves a lasting mark.
"My love and appreciation to the whole team who were so passionate, collaborative, and sincere in making this film," Arvin shared, visibly moved by the journey they’ve taken together.
This achievement was made possible by a passionate and powerhouse collective of creatives: Carlos Ortiz, Jon Galvez, 901 Studios PH, ASTRAL 88, Crowning Glory, Limit Break Studios, Katalog Films, DW, and Daluyong Studios.
As Cannes runs from May 13 to May 24 in France, the AGAPITO team is rallying support to ensure this proud Filipino story is seen and celebrated on the global stage.
