Franco-Spanish, Sophie Venecia Reyes is a Producer – Director – Scriptwriter – Actress – Editor and Stylist/Creator.
She worked as a co-producer and business affair at Cinefeelprod, a French production company dedicated to feature films and documentaries (FAMILY PHOTO by Cecilia Rouaud - LES CONFINS DU MONDE by Guillaume Nicloux (selected at the Directors' Fortnight) - L'EXTRAORDINAIRE VOYAGE DU FAKIR by Ken Scott - FUNAN by Denis Do - LES GARDIENNES by Xavier Beauvois (selected at the Toronto International Film Festival and 4 nominations for the Césars) - VISAGES VILLAGES by Agnès Varda & JR who received the Golden Eye at the Festival of Cannes and was nominated for the best documentary at the Oscars & Césars.
Self-taught and passionate, guided by her Ikigai (principles created by the Japanese), she is an artist at the core. His incessant desire to learn in constant evolution, and his sense of text and words, allow her to open up to new horizons. Supported by her mentor Peter MacDonald, English producer and renowned second unit director (Harry Potter, Guardians of the Galaxy, Wolverine...), she writes screenplays including three feature films (ERRA, THE SPIRIT OF AL-ULA and IT’S OUR SECRET) and an environmental documentary (AT THE HEART OF THE PLASTISPHERE). She tests several technical jobs in short films to understand the complexity of filming. No borders in her work as a producer and director. It is with the short film, October 9th presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 (short film corner), that she develops A POSITIVELY COMMITTED SOLIDARITY CINEMA by notably associating charitable actions with her films.
Having started her professional career in 2007, in the fashion industry, she works as a designer-artistic director where she wins several awards and has paraded her collections in Paris, NYC, Dubai... She has dressed several actresses at the Cannes Film Festival. And like at every Cannes festival or other event, so passionate she makes for herself unique outfits that she wears during the premieres, red carpet and Gala. It is a creative force, which she brings when creating characters in her films. As the skin of an actor is multiple, she pushes the game to shine in various fields. At the same time, she trained as an actress with American coach Jack Waltzer, a lifetime member of Actors Studio, and decided to complete her knowledge learned in the field by training in editing and camera at the school of the image of the Gobelins in Paris. In addition, she trained as a screenwriter with Vincent Ravalec at the Cinemagis school. In her latest short film NO NOS CALLARÁN! she writes, plays, directs, edits and produces her film. The short film received the Remi Winner Special Jury Prize at the 54th Worldfest - Houston International Film Festival and several festival selections.
A former gymnast, driven by her sportily character, Sophie Venecia Reyes likes to take on new challenges! She creates a production company INSIDE US FILMS to develop impact cinema - working hand in hand with foundations. In 2021, her screenplay THE SPIRIT OF AL-ULA was selected by the SIGG ART FOUNDATION Residence based in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia. With a strong desire to participate in meaningful projects — True stories, Education, Environment, Sustainable agriculture, Sport, Women's and children's rights, Homeless are among the key themes to which she dedicates herself through the projects that she writes and directs but also by producing other promising directors like Manjeet Singh Indian director. She is ready to direct her first feature film as well as an environmental documentary AT THE HEART OF THE PLASTISPHERE. For her, CINEMA and ART are the best supports to bring positive change to our changing world.
