Halloween Night in Los Angeles: Where to Be on October 31
By staff writer,

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and Los Angeles intends to make the most of it. Whether you want a street party with 100,000 costumed revelers or an evening at the opera, here is where to spend October 31.
The Main Event: West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval
From 6 to 11 p.m., Santa Monica Boulevard between North Doheny Drive and North La Cienega Boulevard, in West Hollywood's Rainbow District, becomes a costume street party with a live DJ stage at San Vicente Boulevard and food trucks. Visit West Hollywood says the free event draws more than 100,000 costumed revelers and is recognized as one of the largest Halloween events in the world. The city notes it is adult-oriented and discourages bringing children and pets; no backpacks or weapons are allowed and no alcohol may be consumed on the street. Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride in Griffith Park, Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain and Dark Harbor at the Queen Mary all run on select nights through November 1, making Halloween weekend your final chance this season. Delusion's Den of the Mosquito continues through November 8.
For Families
Boo at the L.A. Zoo offers daytime trick-or-treating at six stations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 31 and November 1, free with paid zoo admission. https://lazoo.org/plan-your-visit/special-experiences/boo
Getting Around
In West Hollywood, regular bus service on Santa Monica Boulevard is replaced by the free WeHo Halloween Ride from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m., and rideshare is recommended because of street closures, according to Visit West Hollywood. Set a meeting point with friends in case you get separated, and check each venue's policy on props and masks before you leave home. Event details, times and prices are set by each organizer and may change, so please confirm on the official website before you go.
