Valentine's Date Ideas from Matchmaker

By Tammi Pickle

You don’t have to deal with crowded restaurants or pricey Valentine’s Day menus. At the end of the day, Valentine’s Day is all about connection, intention, and making your partner feel like they’re the only person in the world. No matter what kind of Valentine’s Day date idea you have planned, it’s sure to be meaningful with these suggestions.
1. The ‘All-Day Love Story’ Date
Instead of a traditional Valentine’s Day dinner dates, consider having a series of dates throughout the day instead. You can have coffee together in the morning, meet up for lunch, and then have dinner together at night. Not only does it feel intimate, but it also feels like you’re choosing each other all day long.
Why it works: You’re building up to something all day long instead of just having a traditional Valentine’s Day dinner.
2. Recreate Your First Date (With a Glow Up)
You can recreate your first date or, if that’s not possible, recreate your first date at home. You can have the same food, the same activity, and talk about what you were feeling that night. Then, talk about what you’re feeling now and how much things have changed. Reminisce about your relationship, how it stated and where you two have come.
Why it works: It’s a way to tap into your nostalgia and your personal growth, which creates a deep emotional connection between the two of you.
3. Cozy Luxury Night In
Instead of going to a fancy restaurant, have a luxury night in. You can cook a romantic dinner together, have a massage, share a nice bottle of wine, take a Jacuzzi, have dessert to cap the night off. It’s a way to have a romantic more intimate experience at home.
Why it works: It feels indulgent and romantic without the pressure or the price tag.
4. Memory Lane Date Night
Design a mini relationship museum. Print pictures, create captions, and notes, and other items from your trips, including memories, inside jokes and milestones. Walk down memory lane together, reminisce, and then discuss your future memories you would love to create together.
Why it works: You are celebrating your past, but also cementing your emotional connection and your future.
5. Adventure Date for Two
Plan an adventure date where you and your partner can explore a new local nearby city, go dancing, ice skating, go to an amusement park, take a road trip or a little overnight somewhere fun. Having an adventure where you two can bond, make memories and enjoy each other’s company outside of your normal routine will strengthen your bond as a couple.
Why it works: Sharing an adventure, especially an exciting or thrilling adventure, can create an emotional bond together.
6. Love Letter Exchange
Plan for a time to sit down and write love letters to your partner. Talk about what you love, what you admire, and what you hope for in the future. Then, share your letters over wine, coffee, or dessert.
Why it works: Feeling truly seen, heard, recognized and appreciated is one of the most intimate feelings.
The Real Secret to a Great Valentine’s Day
It has nothing to do with money spent or aesthetics. The best Valentine’s Days are those where you and your partner feel truly chosen, appreciated, and present. That is when the real romance happens.
