On the Runway with Monica

1. Monica, can you tell us about your journey into modeling? What first inspired you to pursue a career in fashion?

I have always been fascinated by the top model icons of the 90s and had a deep passion for fashion. As a child, I would wrap blankets around me like dresses and create my own runway shows at home. Everything truly began when I was 16, after being invited to participate in a fashion show. From that moment on, fashion became a growing passion in my life.

2. Being Italian, you come from one of the world’s fashion capitals. How has your heritage influenced your style and approach to modeling?

Fashion had a strong presence in media growing up, especially through television and magazines. Seeing iconic designers and runway shows made me dream. The strength of “Made in Italy” and its global influence has always been a source of pride and inspiration for me.

3. You have walked in multiple runway shows across Europe—can you share some of your favorite shows or designers you’ve worked with, and what made those experiences unforgettable?

One of my most memorable experiences was my first fashion show in Cannes with Heart Of Hollywood Magazine. The atmosphere was magical, and the audience’s energy was incredible. Every show is special because you meet new people and create meaningful connections that last over time.

4. How would you describe the differences between runway shows in Italy compared to other European cities you’ve worked in? The main difference is in the organization, both in Italy and abroad.

5. Europe is known for its diverse fashion scenes—from Milan to Paris to smaller emerging markets. Which cities have had the biggest impact on you creatively?

Paris has had a strong impact on me. It is a major fashion capital that attracts designers and encourages creativity and investment.

6. What does walking in a European runway show feel like, especially in iconic fashion environments?Backstage can be intense with fittings and preparations, but once I step onto the runway, I focus completely on expressing the garment. The real magic happens when you see the designer’s satisfaction after the show.

7. As a runway model, presence is everything. How do you prepare mentally and physically before stepping onto the runway?

The day before is very calm. I focus on relaxation, a light dinner, herbal tea, and good rest to be fully prepared.

8. Do you have a signature walk or personal expression that defines you on the runway?

Each model brings their own personality to the runway. I adapt my walk depending on the garment and the music, but I believe individuality always comes through.

9. What has been one of the most defining or emotional moments in your modeling career so far?

When designers remember something unique about me, whether from a runway or a photoshoot, it’s a very meaningful and emotional experience.

10. The European fashion industry blends tradition with innovation. How do you see yourself fitting into that balance?

I see myself as a bridge between tradition and innovation. I respect the heritage of fashion while embracing new forms of expression. A model today is an interpreter of vision, not just an image.

11. Have you noticed differences between European and American fashion industries?

From what I’ve observed, European fashion focuses more on tradition and craftsmanship, while American fashion is more dynamic, inclusive, and connected to lifestyle and digital communication. Both are very interesting in their own ways.

12. What challenges have you faced working internationally, and how have those experiences shaped you?

Working internationally requires adapting quickly to new environments and cultures. It has made me more independent and taught me to handle pressure while continuing to grow.

13. Fashion is also about storytelling—what kind of stories do you aim to express when you walk the runway?

It depends on the designer and the garment. My role is to interpret and bring their vision to life.

14. Which designers or fashion houses are on your dream list to work with in the future?

Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Victoria Beckham, and Jacquemus are among the designers I would love to work with.

15. Do you have a favorite fashion week or season that you particularly enjoy?September is the most important and busiest period in fashion.

16. Outside of modeling, what inspires you creatively?

I find inspiration in musicals, abstract art, and photography. These forms of expression influence my creativity and how I approach fashion.

17. As someone representing elegance on international stages, what does “style” mean to you personally?

Style is something deeply personal. It evolves through experiences and allows us to express our emotions and identity.

18. What advice would you give to aspiring models?

Stay true to yourself, embrace your uniqueness, and take care of your well-being. Confidence comes from within. Also, never pay agencies—if they believe in you, they will invest in your career.

19. What projects or collaborations are you currently working on?

Alongside modeling, I am focusing on my image consulting business, helping people find their personal style and confidence.

20. Finally, what message would you like to share with the readers of Heart Of Hollywood Magazine?

Stay curious, follow what inspires you, and make it your own through your personality and style.
