Beleshia McCulley, known in the music industry as Lyrical, has turned personal pain into a powerful purpose. Adopted from The Cradle Society orphanage, she rose to become one of Chicago’s most respected music executives through her company Lyrical Eyes Management. Today, she is an artist, author, motivational speaker, and the founder of Three Twenty Three Music Group.
Lyrical’s career began with words. Inspired by her birth mother, a poet, she wrote her own poetry from an early age. That love of language eventually blended seamlessly with music. “I never really looked at it like that until now,” she said. “Poetry and music are both expressions filled with words, so the transition came naturally to me.”
Her industry resume includes managing breakout artists such as Lil Durk and Tink, and working alongside Chief Keef in his early years. “For Durk and Tink, I was their manager,” she said. “With Keef, I was often the person Interscope’s A&R called when they needed someone to get him to a meeting or out of his grandmother’s house. He was just young and having fun at the time.” Her day-to-day work involved coordinating schedules, making business decisions, and ensuring her artists stayed focused.
Three Twenty Three Music Group was founded in memory of her late brother Tim, who loved music and whose birthday was March 23. “Tim was 23 when he passed,” Lyrical said. “We see his number everywhere, whether on a clock, in sports, or even tattoos. It is our way of keeping him close.” Her children also carry that legacy, with her daughter adopting the stage name Ashlee Bankz and her son performing under the name 3 Lit Mari.
Lyrical’s influence extends far beyond her roster. She has been invited to speak at Revolt Summit’s “Office Hours” four times, often drawing the longest lines. Attendees seek her advice on career moves, music critiques, and life balance. “I’m a woman of God and a nurturer,” she said. “When people meet me, they feel my spirit. It is like a big hug.”
As an author, she has published two books. Her first, Relationshhhh VS Relationships, grew out of grief after her brother’s passing. She compiled years of poetry, some dating back to when she was 16, and shared them with the world. Her second book, Don’t Change, offers candid advice to artists about staying grounded despite industry pressures.
When asked about common misconceptions in artist management, she is quick to clarify. “A manager is not your investor,” she said. “We work with you, not for you. Managers must also build their own brands and protect themselves from getting lost in the business.”
Lyrical is equally passionate about empowering women in the industry. She warns of the challenges women face, from manipulation to false narratives, and stresses the importance of legal protection, strategic thinking, and faith. “This business is chess, not checkers,” she said. “Know your worth and protect it.”
Her definition of power is simple. “When you realize your worth and demand it, you have reached power,” she said.
Currently, she is preparing her clients for the upcoming music cycle while focusing on her own peace and rest. For Lyrical, success is not only measured by charts or accolades but also by the ability to inspire and protect those who follow in her footsteps.
