LOVE & FRIENDSHIP

Editor's Letter

Sandy Rodriguez

We had your career success in mind when we put together this issue, packed with practical advice and inspiration. Also, since we couldn’t let February pass us by without offering recommendations for dealing with Valentine’s Day, we also have an article about precisely that, with insights from actress and podcaster Kat Zammuto.

In Mexico City, where I lived for many years, it is not uncommon to call Valentine’s Day el Día del Amor y la Amistad, which means “the day of love and friendship.” I believe these two words, love and friendship, are the key to personal and professional fulfillment.

Love for your chosen career path will keep you going, even in the face of obstacles or rejection, which are to be expected. The entertainment industry demands a thick skin, but persistence tends to pay off, as you will see in the stories of several talented individuals who are mentioned in this issue.

As for friendship, some say that everybody in Hollywood is fake or flaky, but that has not been our experience at Heart of Hollywood Magazine, led by CEO Giovanna Salas. As a company, we have met many readers, contributors, and supporters we now consider friends.

We have seen some of them at events the magazine has recently hosted or been involved in, such as an extraordinary New Year’s Eve bash thrown by SAS Movie Studios. You will find pictures from that unforgettable party in our pages.

I have been very active since the beginning of the year. For instance, I was delighted to see the return of the Golden Globes in January. It was quite an honor to be at the ceremony and then discuss the evening’s events with my dear friend Gilda Baum-Lappe, a longtime member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

I’m also looking forward to the coming months. Some of the things I’m excited about is the final season of Cobra Kai on Netflix and the movie adaptation of Judy Blume’s Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret, one of the books that shaped a whole generation of young girls, including myself.
