Updated: Jun 15, 2021

Austria, what a beautiful country, it seems like every town you visit from this country will not disappoint you. The Austrian gem that I'll give a small guide to will be the gorgeous Innsbruck. The Alpine gem located in the west of the country is a place you won't want to miss due to its wide variety of activities in this city, making it a prime destination in Austria. Lucky you, if you've lived in this beautiful town, and if you plan to visit it, here are a few things you can do while there.

  • Altstadt von Innsbruck (Old town)

Like most European countries, this city also has its old town; personally, this is one of my favorite old towns I've enjoyed visiting. The old town dates back from the year 1180, part of the city's historical heritage; it used to be surrounded by a wall and a moat; here, you'll find several restaurants, stores, cafes, and other places you'll enjoy. You will also find the Street Duke Frederick, the main street and is full of an imposing infrastructure and buildings like the Ottoburg building, a gothic structure that stands out from the rest. If you go during Christmas time, you'll be able to enjoy the Christmas decoration in this area.

  • Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen

This cable-ride car will take you to the top of a mountain to admire Nordkette, Austria's most significant natural park. If you go during winter, you'll be able to surround yourself with the most enchanting snowy fantasy. While you take this 20-minute ride, you'll be able to admire Innsbruck and also the mesmerizing view of the mountains surrounding the city. If you are a ski fan, here, you'll be able to do so during ski season, if you like me don't know how to ski, it's ok, because the view itself will be worth it.

  • Swarovski Kristallwelten

To all bedazzle fans out there, this is the place to go. This Swarovski crystal world is an incredible art museum full of attractions made of Swarovski crystals; you heard that right. Everything here is full of this famous crystal, including the famous enchanting crystal forest. So regardless if you are a fan or not, this worth seeing; only 20 kilometers away from town, you'll be able to experience this unique museum full of sparkly things.

Suppose your time in this town is limited, and still, you want to surround yourself with sparkly things, then, just at the city center. In that case, you'll find the Swarovski Kristallwelten Store Innsbruck, a store with magnificent objects made of Swarovsky crystals, from cereal boxes to the most impressive crystal made figures; remember that this one is a store, but still, is quite a unique and fun experience to go there.

  • Take a walk through the River Inn.

The river Inn walk has to be one of the best things to do while in Innsbruck, this is because many essential sights lay next to this river, here you'll find the Mariahilf Street, which is one of the most famous views of Innsbruck and probably the image you'll see the most when looking at pictures of this city. So make sure you take your time to walk by this gorgeous river walk.

  • The Golden Roof

Lined with some old medieval houses, the golden roof is one of the main touristic attractions in Innsbruck, located in the old town; this famous building is known for its gold roof, built in 1496 to commemorate the marriage of Maximilian to Bianca Maria Sforza, this is a place you must see when you find yourself in Innsbruck.

So, as you can see, this city has a lot of attractions to offer, from those who like a little adventure in their life to those who want a more quiet vacation, Innsbruck is quickly becoming one of the main cities in Austria, and whit a reason, there is plenty to see in this alpine city, so make sure to put it on your bucket list.
