AnnaSoSwede was born and raised in the countryside of Sweden. As the middle child, she quickly learned that she had to work for what she wanted and so she did: She’s done everything from working at a slaughterhouse to a pig farm, a barista and then eventually got into hospitality. She has moved to 6 countries and speaks 4 languages, which comes in handy while working in the hotel industry with clients from all over the world. She is the Director of Sales and Events at Hotel on Rivington while she also models and creates for Playboy.
Happy Women’s History Month! In what ways do you want to make history as a woman in fashion and modeling?
I am not like the typical model — I didn’t do my first modeling job until I turned 31 so I’m definitely an older female model in a very young industry. With that being said, I think that my age has given me confidence and boundaries that’s made it easy for me to pick and chose more than if I was younger. I love being able to work with true artists and visions and express myself in every possible way through fashion statements. I don’t know if I’ll make history but I would love to leave women in general with the confidence to express themselves freely, regardless of age!
What does this time mean to you and how do you celebrate women’s history month?
I try to uplift and celebrate women every day — there’s nothing more powerful than a self-loving woman. If I can celebrate females in my surroundings and boost them up a bit more every day with encouragement and support — then I will. It’s important to highlight what female divinity really is and celebrate the fact that we have the freedom to be exactly who we are! My mom never got to celebrate being a woman, I think that our generation gets to live that celebration is a huge progress and I am grateful for the work older generations have had to do for us to get here.

In what ways do you feel you have experienced rebirth, growth, and renewal in your professional or personal life?
The fact that I decided to not let my academic path define or control what I do, has allowed doing it all. Because who says that a Political Science major can’t be on the cover of Playboy? No, do it all! Grow, renew, and allow yourself to change as many times and as much as your little heart desires. We have so many layers to ourselves and exploring what really gives you joy, pride, and pleasure is such a blessing. Women are no longer bound to domestic work or child care, we can literally do whatever the heck we want.
As a content creator, what is your process for obtaining a work and life to balance?
I wish I knew! My work and social life are basically the same. Which is both a blessing and a curse. It’s a blessing because I love it and I’m having so much fun at all times but it’s a curse because I’m literally never off. But I’ll take the ups and downs!
What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on a few things — booking a lot of events for springtime, rebranding a hotel, creating content with other creators, and new concepts with dope photographers.
What do you hope for women of influence in the fashion industry?
I hope we continue to do our damn thing, unapologetically.
What advice would you give to women in media to sustain healthy mental health?
Allow yourself to feel and allow yourself to have boundaries. If you’re uncomfortable in a situation, express that and be protective over yourself. Health is wealth so make sure you take of yourself before you take care of others’ needs from you.

Tammy Reese began her career as a theater actress performing in 60 live stage shows a year with The Media Unit TV and Stage Production Company. She also directed the weekly live TV show Rough Times Live.
Eventually, she went to Empire State College to obtain her degree in media studies. After graduation, she did more theater and wrote and produced her own videos to spread awareness on social issues through the arts.
