Anxiety Can't Have Me Anymore. How Songstress, Songwriter, Nater T Over Came Anxiety.

By Faith Rudder

Tanay Naomi Howard is a Songwriter and Songstress who was born in Long Beach, California. Tanay has overcome the stronghold anxiety had over her through writing and singing.

It's the fear that grips our minds, the worry that eats away at our confidence and our ability to pursue our dreams and goals. Anxiety can be a powerful force, but it doesn't have to control our lives.

Anxiety is nothing but the spirit of fear, and when we give in to fear, we allow it to hold us back from the success, the relationships, and the health that we deserve. We become prisoners of our own minds, trapped by doubt and insecurity.

There could be certain things that trigger anxiety in many people. It could be as simple as going to certain places or running into certain people. Sometimes, even the consumption of certain substances can trigger anxiety.

It's important to take note of what these triggers are and do our best to avoid them or find healthier alternatives. It may mean changing certain habits or even seeking professional help.

Taking care of your mental health should always be a priority, and managing anxiety is crucial aspect of that. So, let's make a conscious effort to refrain from doing things that trigger our anxiety and instead engage in activities that promote good mental health.

We don't have to stay stuck in this cycle. We can take steps to move forward and get out of fear, so that we can pursue our dreams and achieve our goals. This might mean seeking support from loved ones, finding a counselor or therapist, or developing new coping strategies that help us manage anxiety.

Whatever steps we take, it's important to remember that we are not alone. Anxiety is a common experience, and there are many others who have struggled with it and come out on the other side.

Remember, there is no shame in seeking help or taking steps to improve our well-being. Let's prioritize our mental health and live our best lives.

When did you begin writing?

I started writing at the age of 12. I discovered my love for poetry and reading short stories. As I started writing it quickly became a passion, a way to free myself from overthinking and constant anxiety. I challenged myself to write at least ten pages a day, sometimes more, depending on my mood.

That dedication to my craft is paying off. I have written three songs that are published on all music platforms. I was able to perform at the Road To Daze Summit Tour in Hollywood, California last February 2023, and was selected to perform in Queens, New York in their next Daze Summit Festival April 13, 2023.

At what age did you first experience anxiety?

It all started when I was just eight years old. A person I knew had passed away and that's when fear took over my mind. Anxiety kicked in and that is when all the trouble started.

It was a daunting experience for a child to feel such overwhelming emotions. As I grew up, anxiety became a constant companion, always ready to take over when something went wrong. The panic attack would come suddenly and without warning. My thoughts began to race, my heart rate skyrocketed, and I found it hard to breathe.

In those moments, I felt completely alone and scared. I didn't know what to do or how to make it stop. But, there were a few things that helped me cope.

The first was calling my mother. Her voice and words of comfort helped to calm me down, and made me feel less alone. The second things I did was reach for my Bible. Reading scriptures that spoke to my heart and soul helped to ground me and bring me back to a place of peace.

I'm sharing this because I believe it's essential to talk about mental health issues that affect so many of us. Anxiety isn't something to be ashamed of, and it's crucial to seek help.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

As a songwriter, my goal is to touch the hearts of people with my music, to inspire them and motivate them to be their best. Whether it's a love song, a pop song, or rap, I believe that the power of music can bring people together, and help them overcome even the toughest challenges.

At the same time, I am also passionate about using my skills as a public speaker to help others achieve their dreams. Whether it's coaching someone to become the best in their field, or giving a keynote speech at a business conference, I believe that words have the power to change lives.

So, whether I'm writing songs or speaking to an audience, my ultimate goal is always the same - to inspire, motivate, and empower others to be their best selves. I believe that by doing so, I can help create a better world, one person at a time.
