Liverpool City, located in the northwest of England, in the county of Lancashire, is quite famous for many reasons. It is the home of the most famous band in history, The Beatles, and hosts great football teams. However, this city has a lot more to offer. From historic buildings to pop culture museums, there are plenty of activities and places to visit in this historic town.


This is a brief guide to the most important locations you should visit if you find yourself going to The Beatles’ hometown.


  1. Penny



“Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes…” you have probably heard these lyrics before. They belong to one of The Beatles’ most popular hits, and believe it or not, Penny Lane was made famous because of this song released in 1967.

Since then, it’s been a tourist attraction for Beatles fans. The renowned street is located in the south of the city, and it’s still quite a lively area, with several shops and even a barbershop in the corner, referencing the song.


2. The Royal Albert Dock




One of the UK’s finest attractions, this is a place where you will be able to do several fun activities.

You’ll be able to play, eat, drink, and shop in an area where Old and New Liverpool meet.


3. The Beatles Story Museum



Right in front of the Royal Albert Dock, you’ll find The Beatles Story Museum.

Whether you’re a fan or just want to learn more about the legendary band, this is a lovely spot that pays homage to the biggest rock band in history. You’ll find plenty of unique facts, listen to songs, and see accessories and garments worn by the members.


This award-winning museum is the only one of its kind worldwide, and it is wholly devoted to telling the story of The Beatles, from the beginning to their solo careers.


4. Liverpool Waterfront


A e s t h e t i c a l l y breathtaking, The Liverpool Waterfront is the perfect place to take a walk, as it’s considered one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.


This is a place you shouldn’t miss if you want to take in the city’s culture.

When you walk there, make sure you take a good look around and see the incredible architecture.


5. Liverpool ONE




If you are the type of person who enjoys shopping, Liverpool ONE is the place for you. This is an outdoor shopping space with over 170 stores to choose from.


6. Matthew Street




Mathew Street has got to be one of the most famous streets in Great Britain, popular among tourists and locals alike due to its vibrant bars and colorful history. Today, this street is renowned for its several pubs. You can visit them on a night out, or just see some of the architecture.
