The ‘Karate Kid Legends’ Red Carpet in Mexico City was the Greatest Ralph Macchio Has Seen in His Entire Career

In Mexico City, the Karate Kid Legends red carpet event drew enthusiastic fans who gathered early to catch a glimpse of the cast. The film stars Ralph Macchio, Ben Wang, Joshua Jackson, Jackie Chan, and Sadie Stanley.
The event featured special guests, including voice actor Emilio Treviño, best known as the voice of Denji in Chainsaw Man. For this film, he voices Connor in the Latin American dub. Also in attendance were popular TikTokers Ale and Pitter Ríos, who shared their excitement about being present, especially since their dojo of choice is Miyagi-Do.
Although Jackie Chan couldn't attend in person, he sent a heartfelt video message apologizing for his absence due to filming commitments in China. In the video, he expressed his love for his Mexican fans, thanked them for their continued support, and ended warmly with, “I love you all.” During the event, Ralph Macchio stated that this was the greatest red carpet he had ever experienced in his entire career.
Heart Of Hollywood Magazine had the chance to speak with Ben Wang and asked him what the most difficult and thff egg easiest part of playing Li Fong were. He replied, “The most difficult part was getting hit in the stomach and face. The easiest? The scenes where I didn’t have to get hit.”
We also spoke to the legend himself, Ralph Macchio, and asked, “How has Daniel LaRusso’s character evolved from Cobra Kai Season 1 to Karate Kid Legends?” He responded, “Great question. In Cobra Kai Season 1, Daniel LaRusso was a bit on edge and unbalanced. Over the course of 65 episodes—thanks to Mexico and everyone who’s loved the series—he evolves. In Karate Kid Legends, we see a Daniel who is a few years past the Cobra Kai era. He’s more grounded, more confident, and starting to resemble Mr. Miyagi in terms of wisdom and maturity.”
After the red carpet, the cast headed into the theater for a brief Q&A session before the screening. They appeared genuinely happy and excited.
The first question was for Ralph: “Looking back at the legacy of the Karate Kid films, what’s the most heartwarming way the character of Daniel LaRusso has resonated with fans over the years?”
Ralph replied, “Over these 40-plus years, Daniel has become a part of so many people’s childhoods. And now, with this new chapter, Li Fong will become part of a new generation’s childhood. From the original films, to the Cobra Kai series, and now back to the big screen—it’s exciting to carry the legacy forward, to continue the Miyagi story in new and unique ways. You’re all going to have a blast watching this.”
The second question was: “What was it like working with Jackie Chan?”
Ralph answered, “Even at his age, Jackie was like the youngest person on set. He was always the first to arrive and the last to leave. If a light needed moving or a camera needed to be adjusted, he’d help. If someone wanted pizza, he’d serve it. He created such a warm, collaborative environment. His wisdom in martial arts and his experience making over 200 films is unmatched—he truly knows the craft.”
Ben added, “From the moment Jackie stepped on set, it was clear—this is a man who loves making movies more than anything else in the world. Maintaining that passion over 200 films is incredible and deeply inspiring.”
Joshua Jackson shared, “Jackie wants to perfect every little detail. His eyes are always on everything. As someone who’s also been in the business for a long time, I really appreciated his dedication. To see someone who's been a star my entire life still have that joy and precision—it was truly inspiring.”
Before leaving, the cast asked the audience if everyone was ready and had their snacks for the movie. They expressed their gratitude for being welcomed so warmly in Mexico and hoped everyone would have a great time watching the film.
