Editor’s Letter

To be sure, 2020 has been a challenging year for the industry. The world has changed, if only temporarily, due to COVID concerns and other issues. Accepting that, and then adapting to new circumstances, is instrumental to riding this out until things stabilize.
For some people, that might mean exploring alternatives to their regular work activities. An acting coach or a voice coach could look into tutoring students online; a band could offer online concerts. Regardless of the role you play in the entertainment industry, keep yourself active and visible to those who matter to you, from casting directors to audiences.
Heart of Hollywood can enhance your visibility. On November 14th, the company will host a Virtual Red Carpet to support those involved in fashion. There will be several breaks to allow guests in entertainment, fashion and related areas to network. We suggest dressing to impress even if you’re on your computer at home, because many opportunities for interaction will arise.
Fashion is a field that is closely tied to entertainment. Any film or TV production requires wardrobe specialists; actors seek out specific garments for headshots, auditions, and awards shows. European jewelry house BaroQco, which has been praised in publications such as Elle, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, has partnered with Heart of Hollywood to present this one-of-a-kind event.
Prepare to enjoy many surprises, including fashion shows and giveaways. Hundreds of fashion and entertainment professionals will be present, virtually. Companies from the Netherlands, France, the UK, Mexico, Indonesia and other countries, in addition to American ones, will be participating.
Tickets are available at www.heartofhollywoodmagazine.com , and a percentage of the ticket price will be donated to help the VO Neighborhood Medical Clinic in Imperial Valley, one of the areas hit hardest by COVID in California. The Clinic delivers free, daily meals to hundreds of countywide patients in order to keep them home and stop the spread of the virus.
I’m counting down the days to the event, and I have my own reasons. Later this year, a book I wrote titled Choose to Prevail: Unexpected Insights to Help You Overcome Challenges, will be released. At times touching and at times humorous, it offers what has been described as a truly unique spin on the self-help genre. Heart of Hollywood has invited me to briefly discuss my book during the Virtual Red Carpet. I feel such a thrill every time I look at promotional material for the event and see my book title nestled among the logos for the wonderful, impressive sponsors.
If you are a sports fan, you know how sometimes a team can win a game in the fourth quarter, no matter how it was doing previously. Despite the issues we may have faced in the first three quarters of 2020, we have a chance to turn things around in this final quarter.
